How Personal Injury Billing Works at Prime Spine & Wellness

If you’ve been injured in a car accident, a slip and fall, or another incident caused by someone else, you may be worried about paying for treatment while your case is still being resolved. At Prime Spine & Wellness, we work directly with attorneys and accept Letters of Protection and fee reductions, so getting care doesn’t have to wait on a settlement.

Here’s exactly how it works, answered as directly as possible.

Letters of Protection: Your Questions Answered

What is a Letter of Protection (LOP)?

A Letter of Protection is a written agreement, typically prepared by your attorney, that guarantees payment to your medical provider directly out of your eventual settlement or judgment. It “protects” your ability to get treatment now by promising payment later, instead of requiring payment at the time of your visit.

Do you accept Letters of Protection?

Yes. Prime Spine & Wellness accepts Letters of Protection at all of our locations — Fort Worth, Saginaw, Granbury, and Arlington. If you’re working with a personal injury attorney, have them send over an LOP and we can begin treatment right away.

Do I need a Letter of Protection to be treated?

No. You can be evaluated and treated whether or not you currently have an attorney or an LOP in place. If you don’t yet have legal representation and think you may need it, we’re happy to talk through your options at your first visit.

Do you work on a lien?

No. In Texas we don’t work on liens — we work with Letters of Protection (LOPs). A Letter of Protection lets you get the care you need now without upfront payment, and payment is resolved once your case settles, in coordination with your attorney.

Is treatment really “no cost until settlement”?

For patients with a Letter of Protection, yes — there’s no payment due at the time of treatment. Payment is handled through your settlement once your case resolves, in coordination with your attorney.

What if my case settles for less than expected?

We understand that settlements don’t always cover the full cost of treatment. Prime Spine & Wellness works with patients and their attorneys on fee reductions when a case doesn’t fully cover the bill, so you’re not left in a worse financial position because of an injury that wasn’t your fault.

Do you bill regular health insurance for accident injuries?

Personal injury cases are usually handled differently than routine health visits, since the at-fault party’s insurance (or your own auto insurance, depending on your policy) is typically responsible for the cost — not your regular health plan. We’ll walk you through how billing works for your specific situation at your first visit.

Do all four locations handle personal injury cases the same way?

Yes — Letters of Protection and fee reductions work the same way at every Prime Spine & Wellness location. Our Arlington location focuses exclusively on personal injury care; our Fort Worth, Saginaw, and Granbury locations offer personal injury treatment alongside general chiropractic care for the whole family.

How do I get started?

Call your nearest location, or have your attorney reach out directly to coordinate your Letter of Protection. We’ll schedule your first visit and take it from there.
